Sunday night, Pastor Anthony Wynn challenged the church of Jesus Christ to see more clearly with his sermon, “Open My Eyes”. The opening verse was taken from 1 Samuel 3:1.

1 Samuel 3:1

King James Version (KJV)

3 And the child Samuel ministered unto the Lord before Eli. And the word of the Lord was precious in those days; there was no open vision.

There had been a blindness that had overtaken the ministry. The vision was lost. Proverbs 29:18 tells us that “Where there is no vision, the people perish..”

In each of our lives we will face difficult times. There are two types of Christians: half of the church knows that God is for us, and the other half doesn’t think they will make it through their storm. Both types are in the same building. Both groups are facing the exact same difficulties.

We as Christians can sometimes be guilty of serving God with out feelings and serving God according to our surrounding circumstances. If we aren’t careful, we can get around “blind” people and become “blind” ourselves. We can get around people feeding fear, and begin to feed fear ourselves. Then, we begin to talk about our battles. If the battle is all we ever talk about , our eyes are not open to the Word of God. In bad circumstances, we aren’t going back to the Bible like we should. We are going by what we see, and not what we know to be the truth of God.

Let this be your prayer, “God open my eyes”, and begin to open your eyes to the truth of God.
