Yesterday, JohnMark Wynn delivered a timely message for the congregation of Miracle Deliverance Tabernacle when he preached his sermon, Keep the Fire Going. There is a natural fire, of course. But, there’s also a spiritual fire burning within us all as Christians. Just like a natural fire, our spiritual fire needs three things to survive.

3 Elements Fire Needs:
• Oxygen
 • Heat
 • Fuel
John compared these 3 natural elements to elements in the spiritual realm. The oxygen we need to keep our spiritual fire burning comes only from God. Here’s what the Bible has to say:

Ezekiel 37:5

King James Version (KJV)

5 Thus saith the Lord God unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live
Acts 2:2

King James Version (KJV)

2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
The second thing a fire needs is heat. The spiritual equivalent of natural heat is conviction. Conviction draws us closer to Jesus. It isn’t a bad thing to be under conviction, and you shouldn’t condem yourself for feeling conviction. It just means you are close the Fire. The heat draws things to the surface, so we can see to work on things. The heat is for refining, such as the refining we need for our souls. We are refined through our experiences. This is what the Bible has to say about refinement:

Proverbs 25:4

King James Version (KJV)

4 Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer.
Malachi 3:3

King James Version (KJV)

3 And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness.
The last thing a fire needs to be sustained is fuel. You will need good fuel for a good fire. Spiritual fuel consists of three things.

Fuel Consists of These 3 Things:
• Prayer
 • Reading God’s Word
 • Worship

Here’s what we find in the Bible about Prayer, Reading the Bible, and Worship:

Luke 18:1

King James Version (KJV)

18 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

Psalm 119:11

King James Version (KJV)

11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

Psalm 26:12

King James Version (KJV)

12 My foot standeth in an even place: in the congregations will I bless the Lord.
When you have the fire burning within you, people should leave with a desire for that fire when they leave your presence. Your fire is not for you alone. It’s for sharing. A fire will quickly spread, especially in a drought. If you have a strong fire within yourself, and see spiritual drought around you, don’t lose heart, it’s a perfect circumstance for God to move mightily. Fire will drive out the darkness. What could we accomplish if we all caught on to this holy fire? You need to catch the fire not only for yourself, but for your neighbors, family, friends, and community. So, let that be your prayer: “God stir up the fire within me.”
